Sweden - Malaysia Innovation Initiative

Dear Members,

The two last weeks of September this year have been dedicated to many Swedish/Malaysian events in Kuala Lumpur co-organised by the Embassy, Business Sweden and MASBA.
 
Sweden Malaysia Innovation Initiative (SMII) is an effort to nurture innovative thinking in Malaysia. Sweden has a vivid history of innovation since the 17th century and has been continuously ranked among the top countries renowned for Innovation in the world.


-The Sweden Malaysia Innovation Days (SMID) 17 - 20 September 2013, were launched by Y.B Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, together with Mr. Gunnar Oom, State Secretary for Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, and Mr Mark Rozario, CEO of Agensi Inovasi Malaysia. SMID was joined by 10 Swedish partners Alfa Laval, BAE System Bofors, Bromma, Cale Access, SAAB, Scania, SKF, Tetra Pak, Transmode and Volvo Trucks.

- State Secretary Gunnar Oom also officiated the official re-opening of the Embassy during his visit to Malaysia.

- During ten days the Embassy, through Culinary Sweden, was presenting several events introducing Sweden as a great food nation.  

These busy weeks culminated with the successful Sweden Malaysia Innovation Dinner at Hilton Kuala Lumpur Hotel. Over 300 guests from the Swedish and Malaysian business communities, MASBA members, Government and academia attended the dinner. They enjoyed a menu created by the Swedish Chef Michael Elfwing, music by the Swing Kings, performance by the Malaysian singer Poova, photo exhibition by Bengt Bjurström from BAE Systems Bofors/BHIC Bofors Asia, and much more.  

MASBA wishes to thank its members participating in the events as well as the Embassy and Business Sweden for good cooperation.
